How Brands, The Public and Channels are helping us ‘Stay Home, Protect The NHS, Save Lives’

Coronavirus has turned our lives upside down. Thank you to all the Keyworkers on the front line keeping us safe and minimising impact of Coronavirus.

Like myself, you’ll be watching TV and checking Social Media regularly. Social Media has been the most important communication currently, keeping our families together, keeping up to date with the news and broadcasting important messages like ‘Stay Home, Protect The NHS, Save Lives’ (Gov.Uk, 2020). It’s been fantastic for Brands and Organisations to reach out to their consumers and raise money for NHS Staff, who are working the hardest.

Below I’ve chosen 3 successful Coronavirus campaigns:

  • #Clapforourcarers

The #Clapforourcarers was set up for the public to celebrate the Keyworkers by being out of our houses at 8pm every Thursday. Annemarie Plas from London came up with the idea ‘after hearing about a similar campaign that was doing the rounds in a few of her Whatsapp group.’ (Create Review, 2020). The campaign has been very thoughtful.

  • Lego Superheroes

Lego have released a video for the ‘Families of the United Kingdom’ (Lego, 2020) about the importance of staying home over Easter. I love how much thought has been put into this video and how kids all around the UK will now think they are Superheroes following the rules and doing isolation correctly!

  • Together At Home

The music industry has done their bit getting celebrities to sing to us on livestreams by donating money to Global Citizen who are working with people on the front line and the WHO (World Health Organisation). Artists that have got involved include Olly Alexander from Years and Years and Oh Wonder.

What’s been your favourite campaign?

  1. Hi Alice! You are correct in saying that Coronavirus has definitely turned our lives upside down. As a Marketing student I believe it’s important for brands to continue to engage with their consumers. I’ve seen restaurants offering recipe tutorials so that we can make them at home and other companies offering free food to the NHS and key workers. My favourite campaign that you mentioned is the #clapforcarers. Its a nice way to bring the community together when we are all distancing and to show our appreciation for those on the front line helping to tackle Coronavirus.
